Libraries
The libraries have a variety of electronic resources. Manitou is the gateway to the catalogue of the libraries in the Université du Québec system; it can also be accessed from a home computer through the library Web page.
All the databases are accessible from the library Web page in alphabetical order and by field of study. Many of the resources are in English.
Training in Reference Material
If you wish to learn more about Manitou and the databases, please don't hesitate to make an appointment with a librarian in your field of study. Our librarians are happy to provide you with the training you require.
Computer and Internet Support
All UQO students are assigned an email address that they can access from anywhere in the world by signing on to the UQO Web site. The University also offers the possibility of creating a Web page and storing up to 25 MB of data on its servers.
Students have access to a dozen computer labs (IBM, Macintosh, Sun, etc.) containing state-of-the-art equipment in sufficient quantity to meet student demand. All the microcomputers are connected by a local area network that provides high-speed Internet access and sharing of computer resources, including printers, softwares and files. Students have their own accounts and passwords for using the equipment.
In addition, the University offers training workshops in French for students at the start of each term:
- introduction to microcomputers;
- introduction to the Internet;
- introduction to email;
- introduction to word processing.
Students can also find guides to all these topics on-line (French only), as well as information on the use of the multimedia rooms, ERES and the Web site itself, and can consult an on-line guide if they wish to create their own Web site.
